12:05 - 12:20

Keynote Presentation: Rare Earths for Net Zero - Insulating the Green Transition from Geopolitical Shocks

- Historically, rare earth mining companies struggled with seeking a social license to operate. Now they are expected to seek a geopolitical license to operate.

- The responsibilities of industry participants in each node of the rare earth magnetics value chain, the role of government, the emerging expectation for a multilateral stockpiling agency, and the plea to stop weaponizing supply chains of rare earths that are critical to our world's transition to Net Zero technologies.

- Outside of China, the EU is the largest, fastest growing, and most undersupplied market for rare earth magnets. How does the EU's policy response match this challenge and prepare for this opportunity? What is the industry's reaction?

12:20 - 13:00

Interactive Workshop Session: Enhancing the Reliability of Raw Material Tracking in Complex Supply Chains (Lunch provided)

EIT RawMaterials is hosting this interactive workshop with its partners in the MaDiTraCe project — DMT, Spherity, and AHK — to explore and demonstrate innovative approaches to improving the traceability and reliability of raw material tracking in complex supply chains.

Purpose and outcome of the workshop: Enhancing traceability and certification is a vital process for European businesses engaging Critical Minerals. This introduction to MaDiTraCe outlines your pathway to responsible sourcing, credible claims, and improved transparency across your supply chain.

Attendees will gain:

- Insights on how to address the challenges in mineral supply chains related to the credibility and validation of ESG and material related information;

- Increased knowledge of the Technology Readiness Level for experimental methods in digital and material sciences;

- Insights on practical approaches to enhance compliance with the EU Battery Regulation and the German Supply Chain Act and other due diligence and responsible business regulations;

- Opportunities to interact with a strong stakeholder forum with upstream and downstream industries and policy-oriented stakeholders

- Guidance on the implementation and exploitation of project outcomes.
