This Award was presented by Benchmark Executive Chairman & Founder, Simon Moores, at the opening of Giga USA 2025.
Benchmark Mineral Intelligence honoured Senator Murkowski with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising her leadership in reframing critical minerals as central to U.S. national and global strategy.
Murkowski authored the pioneering Critical Minerals Policy Act (2011), and, as chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, co-wrote key provisions in the Energy Act of 2020 to modernise permitting, promote recycling, and incentivise domestic production.
She advocates for strengthening America’s Arctic infrastructure, expanding icebreaker capacity, and securing bipartisan support for resilient U.S. supply chains.

Lisa Murkowski is a senior U.S. Senator from Alaska (since 2002) and the first Alaskan-born member of the Senate. A third-generation Alaskan, she champions bipartisan energy and natural‑resources policies, emphasising domestic critical minerals security to support clean energy and defence sectors.
As chair and longtime member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, she spearheaded landmark legislation—like the Critical Minerals Policy Act and contributions to the Energy Act of 2020—to streamline permitting, promote recycling, and foster domestic production.
